Trail Work
I went out and did some trail maintenance at Harris Lake park today. Despite the torrential downpour the night before there was still a good turnout. We built about 100 feet of raised tread in a wet area on the beginner trail. Basically we just lined both sides of the trail with decent sized rocks and then we filled in the middle of the trail with gravel and rock sand to a depth of about 6 inches. We also installed some drainage pipe where it appeared necessary. After this we had a break for lunch and then 4 of us went back out and put in two short reroutes and some drainage trenches on a portion of the first intermediate trail. There is definately still a lot of work to do out there are large portions of the trail are built in low lying flat areas. Hopefully with summer approaching the weather will give us a bit of a break. More trail work tommorow this time at Lake Crabtree.
